Future thinking

The only thing we know for certain about the future is that we can know nothing about it. But we have to plan for it and be ready for whatever may come our way.

It seems that some organisations are badly prepared for what happens whilst others seem to always be ready, move with almost impossible speed when a change is needed and take it all in their stride. For them, being able to move quickly and gracefully is a very distinct competitive advantage. It is the ability to adapt more quickly than their competitors. In evolutionary terms, this is a vital ability that ensures survival.

This workshop explores how to think and plan for a future that is always uncertain, always unknown.

The focus is to balance the need for dealing with uncertainty whilst designing and enacting clear and confident strategic plans.

Using many examples from market leading organisations this workshop uncovers the history of how they think so effectively about the future.

As with all Management Crowd workshops, clear and practical guidance about how to work effectively is given. Tools which can be learned quickly but nevertheless provide useful and immediately useable insights are explained and practiced during the session.

The workshop also explores the idea that, just as there are multiple possible futures ahead of us, there are also multiple possible explanations concerning the present state and position of the organisation and how it arrived here from its past. These ideas give greater depth to leadership, greater resilience in the face of change, and greater insights when communicating about the past, present and future of the organisation and what are, and how it will achieve, its strategic and operational goals.
